Mount Ayr Record-News
Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa
October, 1980

OBITUARY ~ PAUL PARKINSON SKINNER

Jay Parkinson SKINNER, son of Phebe BROTT SKINNER and Willis SKINNER, was born January 21, 1882 at their home near Maloy and passed away at Clearview Home in Mount Ayr Oct. 27, 1980 at the age of 88 years and nine months.

He attended "Hillside", the neighborhood school, and then started working on the family farm. Except for five years spent in St. Joseph, Mo. and California, Jay farmed until he and his sister became residents of Mount Ayr. After a heart attack he went to live at Clearview in 1973.

Jay was a member of Maloy Baptist church and then later the Mount Ayr Baptist church. He enjoyed singing in the choir and attending services very much, while health permitted.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a brother, Clyde; and a sister, May. He is survived by a niece, Goldie ELLIS of Altoona and the families of his cousins and friends.

Services were conducted by Rev. Paul CARTER at 1:30 p.m. Oct. 30 at Rhoades-Wilson Funeral Home. Organist was Mrs. Rollin NOBLE and vocalist, Mrs. Francis WILLIS. Casketbearers were Gene LARSON, DUane TRIGGS, Ansel SAVILLE, Clifford FORCE, Richard PRENTIS and Robert CHRISTNER. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Blockton.
