OBITUARY ~ GLEN SKINNER

Glen William SKINNER, son of C[yrus]. B. and Della [(CHUMLEY)] SKINNER, was born May 12, 1899, in Ringgold County, Iowa, and passed away at the Mount Ayr Health Care Center on December 23, 1989, at the age of 90 years, seven months and 11 days.

Glen was united in marriage August 2, 1920, in Savannah, Missouri, to Velta Ruth KLING. This union was blessed with four sons.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Velta; sons, Charles and wife Marian, Robert and wife Mary, and James and wife, Delores, all of Des Moines, Iowa; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Pauline, of California, and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Doyle; on sister and nine brothers.

Glen lived in Ringgold County most of his life. He was a member of the United Methodist church, a past member of the I.O.O. F. Lodge, and the United States Coast Guard Reserve.

Glen was a devoted husband and father. He was happy when the family could gather together, for there were always good times and they lifted his spirits.

Funeral services were held December 24, 1989, from the Wilson-Watson Funeral Home at Mount Ayr, Iowa, conducted by Rev. Phil KINTON. Music was provided by Mrs. Merrill PERRY, Mrs. Jim JONES and Mrs. Robert FISHER.

Casketbearers were Jim SKINNER, Robert SKINNER, Charles SKINNER, Rick SKINNER, Danny SKINNER and Dustin SKINNER. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Mount Ayr.
