Final rites for Mildred Sheldon were held at the Larkin-Bender Funeral Home in
Lenox on Saturday, March 31 at 1 p.m. Pastor Jack Cutbirth of the First
Christian Church officiated.
Mrs. Sheldon, the daughter of Arthur and Leta Shall Baumann, was born June 28,
1909 on a farm in Lincoln Township, Ringgold county, near Diagonal, Iowa. She
died at the Porter Memorial Hospital in Denver, Colorado on Wednesday, March
21, 1984 at the age of seventy four years, eight months, and twenty-three
Mildred grew to womanhood on the farm and in the Lenox community where she
graduated from Lenox High School in 1928. Following various employments in
this area, she moved to Denver in 1943. She was employed as a long distance
operator for Mountain Bell Telephone Company for eighteen years until failing
health forced her to retire. She was united in marriage with Dale E. Sheldon
at Golden, Colorado on August 14, 1951. They made their home in Denver.
Preceding her in death were her father in 1964, her mother in 1965 and a
sister, Darlene Baumann in 1974.
Casket bearers were Russell Davenport, Roy Davenport, Harley Allen Porter,
Myrle Henderson, Harley Morley, and Kenneth Young.
Music was by Norma Paymal, organist. Vocalists were Billie Jean Barker and
Marilyn Beck. The selections were "Beyond The Sunset" and "No Night There".
Interment was in the Rising Sun Cemetery at Diagonal.
