OBITUARY ~ HOWARD D. SHAW

Howard D. SHAW, 95, died Satuday, January 6, 2007 at the Simpson memorial Home in West Liberty following an extended illness. Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at the Ehnderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty with Rev. DeLane WRIGHT officiating. Burial was in the Oak Ridge Cemetery, West Libery. Memorial may be made to Iowa City Hospice.

Howard was born December 27, 1911 in Redding, Iowa, the son of Hugh and Mary JENNINGS SHAW. He was a graduate of Redding high school in 1931. On April 16, 1933 he was united in marriage to Gladys POLLEY in Adel. They had farmed in Johnson and Muscatine counties before retiring in West Liberty. Following his retirement, Howard worked for the West Liberty school system as a custodian in the Nichols Building.

He was a member of the West Liberty United Methodist Church.

Survivors include one son, Kenneth (Carolyn) SHAW of Nevada, Iowa; two daughters, Ann BRISTOL of Iowa City, Iowa and Donna (John) REICHARDT of Solon, Iowa; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Gladys; five brothers, Vernice, James, Lyle, Marion and Lewis; three sisters, Reva UGLOW, Berle KNAPP and Dorthea FREEL, and a son-in-law, Richard.
