OBITUARY ~ KYLE REX SHAHA
July 10, 1950 ~ September 11, 2014
Kyle Rex Shaha was born July 10, 1950 to Rex Owen Shaha and Vesta Opal (Wardrip) Shaha in Creston, Iowa. Growing up, Kyle attended Saltzman Country School through fourth grade. He graduated from Mount Ayr High School in 1968 and attended Universal Trade school in Omaha, Nebraska. Kyle was an active member in 4-H, Boy Scouts and the Ringgold County Saddle Club where he enjoyed barrel racing and trail riding,. In high school, Kyle wrestled and was a drummer in the high school band. On June 7, 1969 Kyle was united in marriage to Pamela Joan Knight at the First Christian Church in Mount Ayr. To this union, two children were born, Krista and Travis. Kyle had a love for farming using his Allis Chalmers tractors growing acres of corn and soybeans. He was highly regarded by many for his expertise in custom cattle feeding. Kyle loved his cow/calf herds and attending livestock auctions. Always a cowboy at heart, Kyle loved horses, rodeos, team roping with friends, and cattle round ups. Kyle was highly involved in Shaha
Construction Dozer business, with his Dad, Rex and Brother, Kurt. Kyle also enjoyed deer hunting with friends and family. Kyle enjoyed the Ringgold County Fair and attended the Iowa State Fair every year beginning as a child. Kyle was proud to be farming a heritage farm, that had been in the family over 150 years. His greatest source of pride was his family including his two children and four grandsons.
Kyle served in the Army National Guard for 6 years. He served on the Sheriff Posse for 32 years and was the Director of Poe Township for the Ringgold Cattlemen's Association. Kyle was a member of First Christian Church in Mount Ayr, Ringgold County Farm Bureau and served on the Board of Trustees at the First Christian Church.
Kyle was preceded in death by his parents, Rex and Vesta Shaha and parents in-law, Richard and AnnaBelle Knight. He is survived by his wife, Pam Shaha of Mount Ayr; daughter, Krista (Joseph) Driscoll of Evans, Georgia; son, Travis (Judi) Shaha of Mount Ayr; brother, Kurt (Wendy) Shaha of Mount Ayr; four grandsons, Kyle Driscoll and Konnor Driscoll both of Evans, Georgia, Bryce Shaha and Brock Shaha both of Mount Ayr.
Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr was in charge of the arrangements.
Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 15, 2014 at the First Christian Church of Mount Ayr with
Reverend Ed Sheilds and Reverend Chris Conklin officiating.
Active casketbearers were Gordon Bradley, Marty Schnoor,
Charles Adams, Doug Jeanes, Bobby Ray Jeanes, Eric Walters and Joe Driscoll.
Honorary casketbearers were Dave
Shields, Charlies Jeanes, John Hartchen, Roger Schnoor, Jim Shaha, Darryl Hartchen, Cecil Davenport, Steve Taylor,
Royce Dredge, Randy Gibson, Tom Osborne, John Herren, Melvin Gray and Jerry Schaefer.
Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Mount Ayr.
Memorial funds have been established for the Ringgold County
Fair, First Christian Church and HCI Care Services.
