OBITUARY ~ ORVAL L. SHAFER

Final rites were held at the Bender Funeral Home in Lenox Friday afternoon at 2 p.m., for Orval Shafer, 69, who died in Nebraska July 4th.

Orval L. Shafer, son of Samuel L. and Harriett M. Shafer, was born August 22, 1902 in Ringgold County, Ia., and departed this life in the Bergen Mercy hospital in Omaha, Nebraska July 4, 1972 at the age of 69 years, 10 months and 12 days.

He was the oldest of six children and was preceded in death by his father and mother and one half brother, Chester Keller.

He leaves to mourn his passing 4 sisters and one brother. They are Opal Baxter of Omaha, Nebr., Myrtle Cummings of Omaha, Harold Shafer of Des Moines, Marie Neely of Creston, and Florence Camden of Lenox, several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Rev. Don Briley of the Prescott Christian Church, officiated at the services. Music was furnished by Mildred Walter, Diane Stanger and Carole Stanger.

Bearers were Dick Shafer, Harold Shafer, James Camden, Ronald Neely, Darwin Delehoy and Reed Helm.

Burial was in Bethel cemetery at Diagonal, Iowa.
