DEATH of MRS. JOHN STRANAHAN

Mrs. Eliza Jane STRANAHAN, the wife of the late John STANAHAN, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mary E. PARKER, on Thursday, April 23, 1908. Her maiden name was CHAMBERS. Mrs. STANAHAN was born in Greene county, Ohio, March 5, 1825, having passed the 83d year of her age. She was moved by her parents, at five years of age, from Ohio, to Carroll county, Indiana, where she grew to womanhood. In 1849 she was united in marriage to John STRANAHAN, and in 1856 the family moved to Iowa. They soon came to Ringgold county and for many years their home was a little south of Mt. Ayr. Recent years have been spent in town. To them eight children were born, five daughters and three sons, a son and daughter having died in infancy.

Mrs. STRANAHAN united with the Methodist church early in life at Pittsburg, Ind. Soon after coming to Mt. Ayr she united with the church here and has all the while maintained a good profession. She was tenderly regarded as a 'mother in Israel.' Her children rise and call her blessed.

The funeral was conducted this afternoon from the Methodist church as was conducted by Rev. W. E. HARDAWAY.
