OBITUARY - GEORGE STILL

George STILL, 85, of Mount Ayr died April 21, 2004, at Ringgold County Hospital in Mount Ayr.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, April 24, at Wilson-Watson and Armstrong Funeral Home, 205 W. Monroe St., Mount Ayr. The Rev. Charles WEIMAN and the Rev. Pat WILLIAMSON will officiate the service. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery at Mount Ayr. Visitation will be 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. A memorial has been established in his name.

Mr. STILL, son of Mary (PARKER) and Leonard STILL, was born Nov. 13, 1918, in Decatur County. On September 25, 1943, he married Ethel KNIGHT in Creston. He was a farmer and a member of the Free Methodist Church in Mount Ayr.

Survivors include his wife, Ethel STILL of Mount Ayr; a son, Merrill (wife Betty) STILL of Kellerton; three brothers, Lee (wife Genevieve) STILL of Conesville and Eldon (wife Jan) STILL and Ed STILL, all of Mount Ayr; three sisters, Ethel DOOLITTLE of Kellerton and Leucena KOBBE and Joyce (husband Jim) JOHNSON, all of Mount Ayr; a sister-in-law, Vesta STILL of Mount Ayr; four grandchildren, Lisa (husband Bob) SAXTON, Teresa (husband James) HUFFMAN, Townya (husband Keith Jr.) LYNCH and Adam STILL; and great-grandchildren, Brandon and Aaron SAXTON, Mackinzie, Levi, KC and Noah HUFFMAN and Brenden and Brylee LYNCH.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, George LaVerne STILL; two brothers, Guy and Ray STILL; a sister, Emma MURPHY; and parents-in-law Verne and Florence KNIGHT.

OBITUARY ~ GEORGE WESLEY STILL

George Wesley STILL was born November 13, 1918, in Decatur county, Iowa. His parents were Mary PARKER STILL and Leonard Lou STILL. He moved to Ringgold county when still a small child and lived the rest of his life in Ringgold county. He attended school at Walnut Grove country school and Benton school.

On September 25, 1943, he was united in marriage to Ethel KNIGHT. They were privileged to celebrate 60 years of marriage last fall.

George was engaged in farming. He liked to raise cattle and tended to his cattle as long as his health permitted. In August of 1970, George was baptized and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He was a member of the Free Methodist Church in Mount Ayr.

George is survived by his wife Ethel of Mount Ayr; a son Merrill of Kellerton; four grandchildren, Lisa SAXTON and husband Bob of Skidmore, Missouri, Teresa HUFFMAN and husband James of Mount Ayr, Tawnya LYNCH and husband Keith, Jr. of Salt Lake City, Utah and Adam STILL of Mount Ayr; eight great-grandchildren, Brandon and Aaron SAXTON of Skidmore, Mackenzie, Levi, KC and Noah HUFFMAN of Mount Ayr, Brendon and Brylee LYNCH of Salt Lake City; brothers, Lee and wife Genevieve of Conesville, Iowa, Eldon and wife Jan and Ed, all of Mount Ayr; sisters, Ethel DOOLITTLE of Kellerton, Leucena KOBBE and Joyce JOHNSON and husband Jim, all of Mount Ayr, sister-in-law Vesta STILL of Mount Ayr; nieces, nephews, cousins, relative and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Leonard; an infant son George LaVerne; sister Emma MURPHY; and two brothers, Ray and Guy.

George was a kind and loving husband, father and grandfather. He dearly loved his family and enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 24, 2004 at Wilson-Watson & Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr with Reverends Charles WEIMAN and Pat WILLIAMSON officiating.

Musicians were Sheila WILLIAMSON and Tina BOUNDS. Casket bearers were Doug STILL, Ronche STILL, David STILL, Brad STILL, Darrell MURPHY and Terry STILL. Honorary pallbearers were Adam STILL, Brandon and Aaron SAXTON, Mackenzie, Levi, KC and Noah HUFFMAN and Brenden and Brylee LYNCH.

George was laid to rest in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Ayr.
