OBITUARY

Ola (STAHL) & Walter X. STEVENS

Walter X. STEVENS, son of Ralph E. and Nancy (SIMPSON) STEVENS, was born near Diagonal, Iowa, Oct. 2 1882, and passed away in Des Moines at the Mercy Hospital, September 1, 1942, at the age of 59 years and 11 months.

He grew to manhood in Ringgold County and received his education in the schools of the county. He was united in marriage to Ola STAHL on December 14, 1910. To them 1 child was born, but passed away in infancy.

Mr. STEVENS accepted the Lord as his guide in the year 1911. and remained a true and faithful follower until the end, at which time he held membership in the Presbyterian church, also being a member of the board of trustees.

He leaves to mourn his passing his devoted wife, his sisters, Mrs. Albert JONES of Diagonal. Mrs. Roe W. WILLIAMS, of Des Moines, and Mrs. Rudolph FOGLE of Diagonal; his brothers, Homer of Redding, Edward of Cherokee, besides his many nieces and nephews, one of these, Gail BERRY, made his home with them for over 3 years, being treated with great kindness and fatherly affection.

Preceding him in death were his father and mother, sister, Mrs. Alta MONK, and 2 sisters, Edna and Fern, who died in infancy.

Mr. STEVENS was a loving husband, especially kind to young folks. Very active in the progress of his community and county as to improvements of living conditions and general welfare of his many friends and neighbors. He lived a life that was above reproach, doing what he thought was best for all concerned, and his unblemished character and fair dealings will be greatly missed in this community.

Interment at Bethel Cemetery, Ringgold County, Iowa.
