The Mount Ayr Record-News, 1926

OBITUARY - RICHARD STAMPER.

Richard STAMPER was born in Grundy county, Illinois, August 24, 1871, and departed this life at his home near Clearfield, Iowa, March 8, 1926, aged fifty-four years and six months. He came to Ringgold county, Iowa, with his parents when a lad of nine years, his father being one of the early settlers of the county. Here he lived with his parents until 1901 when he was united in marriage to Miss Jennie PORTER, of Prescott, Iowa, when they moved to the home where he resided until his death. He gave his heart to God when eighteen years of age and lived an earnest christian life until his death. He spoke often being ready to meet his Savior.

To this union were born two sons, Paul, dying in infancy, and Ralph, of Lenox, Iowa. He leaves to mourn his death his wife, son, three brothers and one sister, Frank of Casper, Wyo.; E. T. and Thomas, of Clearfield, Iowa, and Mrs. Minnie SHELDON, of Diagonal, Iowa. For months before his death he was a constant sufferer and realized his time was short, but said, "I am resting in the Lord" and in that blessed faith, his family rests its hope.

Funeral services were held at the home Thursday afternoon, March 11, conducted by Rev. J. A. F. CUNNINGHAM, of Conway, a former pastor, assisted by Rev. A. J. MATTHEWS, of Clearfield, Iowa. Burial was in the Clearfield cemetery.

NOTE: Jennie E. (PORTER), Richard's wife, was born in 1875, and died in 1963 with interment beside her husband, Clearfield Cemetery. Paul, son of Richard and Jennie (PORTER) STAMPER, was born on March 3, 1904, and died March 13, 1904 with interment at Clearfield Cemetery.

Richard's brother Edward T. STAMPER was born in 1867, and died in 1950 with interment at Clearfield Cemetery.

Richard's mother, Mary Anna (TURBEY) was born in 1840, and died at the age of 70 years, 6 months and 20 days on April 26, 1911. Richard's father, Thomas STAMPER was born September 20, 1832 in England, and died January 4, 1894. Anna and Thomas were interred at Clearfield Cemetery.
