OBITUARY - ROBERT LEE STAATS

Robert L. STAATS, son of Hireman (sic, should be Hiram) and Laura STAATS, was born September 2, 1878, at Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and passed away June 15, 1966, after suffering a heart attack, at the age of 87 years, nine months and 13 days.

On June 9, 1913, he was united in marriage with Ella BEBBEE, and of this union was born a daughter, Mrs. Opal HOOPER.

In 1935, he returned to Iowa and made his home with his sister, Mrs. Eva MAGGARD, and her husband. After Mr. MAGGARD'S death, he made his home with his nephew, George STAATS, and family, and remained there until June 26, 1958, when he went to the home of his nephew and niece, Mr. and Mrs. R. L. MAGGARD, where he remained until he entered the hospital, where death occurred.

He was a member of the Assembly of God Church and attended faithfully as long as he was able. Mr. STAATS will be sadly missed by all of his relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Opal, and son-in-law, Wayne HOOPER; a half-sister, Mrs. Myrtle BILLINGTON, of Queen City, Mo.; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Mary STAATS, of Macon, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held June 19, from the Rhoades Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. G. C. FOWLER, pastor of the Assembly of God Church. Mrs. Lester GRINDSTAFF and Mrs. G. C. FOWLER sang, accompanied at the organ by Margaret PENCE, and casketbearers were Perry MAGGARD, John STUCK, BIll McPHERSON, Robert STAATS, C. E. STEPHENS and Edward Joe HIGHSHOE. Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery at Mount Ayr.
