OBITUARY - HELEN M. SMYTH, Mount Ayr

MOUNT AYR - Services for Helen Marie SMYTH, 73, of Mount Ayr were 10 a.m. Monday, June 6 [1988], at St. Joseph's Catholic Church here [Mount Ayr].

The Rev. John ZEITLER officiated with burial in the Ellston Cemetery. The Wilson-Watson Funeral Home had charge of arrangements. Memorials may be directed to the Mount Ayr Health Care Center of Challenge Center of Ringgold County.

Miss SMYTH was born May 4, 1915, in Nebraska to Gerald V. and Mary C. (PHILLIPS) SMYTH. She lived in Denver, Colo. until 1979, moving to Mount Ayr. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.

Survivors include a sister, Evelyn REASONER of Mount Ayr.

OBITUARY ~ HELEN MARIE SMYTH

Helen Marie SMYTH, daughter of Gerald and Mazie (PHILLIPS) SMYTH, was born May 4, 1915, near Spalding, Nebraska.

After the death of her mother, when Helen was four-years-old, the family moved to Denver, Colorado where Helen lived until July, 1979, when she moved to Mount Ayr, iowa. In October of that same year, she entered the Mount Ayr Health Care Center whre she remained until her death.

When Helen was six months old, she suffered a serious illness which caused her [a] lifelong frail condition. She enjoyed people and had a happy disposition.

She was preceded in death by her parents, the grandmother who raised her and one sister.

She is survived by her sister, Evelyn REASONER of Mount Ayr; nephews, Raymond REASONER and family of Maryville, Missouri, and Edwin REASONER and family of Mission, Kansas; and a niece, Paula RUMMERFIELD of Chula Vista, California.

Services were held June 6, 1988 from St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Mount Ayr, Iowa, conducted by Fr. John ZEITLER. Organist was Betsy KEENAN.

Casketbearers were Marlin RICKER, Francis WALTERS, Raymond O'GRADY, Edwin REASONER, Raymond REASONER and Lawrence CREVELING. Burial was in the Ellston Cemetery at Ellston, Iowa.
