RAYMOND E. "BUD" SMITH DIES - Creston

Raymond E. "Bud" SMITH, 82, of 909 N. Division St., Creston, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 1987, at the Alberns Health Care Center in Clinton.

He was born Feb. 27, 1905, in Mount Ayr, the son of A. I. and Frances (LOURIE) SMITH. On Oct. 3, 1931, he married Bertha C. PLOWMAN in Mount Ayr. She preceded him in death on July 22, 1986.

Mr. SMITH lived in Ringgold county before moving to Creston in 1955. He was an electrical contractor and a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Mr. SMITH is survived by a son, Raymond E. SMITH, Jr. of Clinton; three grandchildren; and a brother, Jim SMITH of Mount Ayr.

He was preceded in death by five brothers and sisters, and a son, Elvin Delayne in 1939.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Coen-Beaty Funeral Home with the Rev. M. Wayne CLARK officiating. Burial was at Rose Hill Cemetery at Mount Ayr.

Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church.

OBITUARY ~ RAYMOND E. SMITH

Raymond E. (Bud) SMITH, formerly of 909 North Division Street, Creston, Iowa, died at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, 1987 at the Alberns Health Care Center in Clinton, Iowa, were he had been a resident since 1986.

A funeral service was held at 1:30 p.m. Monday< march 16, 1987 at Coen-Beaty Funeral Home in Creston. Dr. M. Wayne CLARK officiated. Music was provided by Mrs. Clair BOYD, organist, who played "How Great Thou Art" and "Amazing Grace." Casketbearers were Lauren WILSON, Robert YOUNG, Greg SMITH, Jack WEESE, Gerald YOUNG, Mark SMITH and Jim SMITH. Interment was in Rose Hill cemetery, Mount Ayr, Iowa.

Mr. SMITH was born Feb. 27, 1905 at Mount Ayr, the son of A. I. SMITH and Frances Lourie SMITH. He was married Oct 3, 1931 in Mount Ayr to the former Bertha C. PLOWMAN, who preceded him in death July 22, 1986.

The couple had one son, Raymond E. SMITH, Jr. of Clinton and three grandchildren, who survive. One son, Elvin Delayne, died in 1939. Five brothers and sisters also preceded him in death. One brother, Jim SMITH of Mount Ayr, survives.

Before moving to Creston in 1955, Mr. SMITH lived in Ringgold County where he was an electrical contractor. He was a member of the Creston First United Methodist Church. Memorials were to go to the First United Methodist church.
