JESSIE SMITH DIES - Ellston
Jessie SMITH, 90, of Ellston, formerly of Murray, passed away at her home Friday morning, Nov. 11, 1988.
She was born Sept. 18, 1898, in Hopeville, the daughter of Frank and Emma (LEAS) BOOTH. She married Aaron SMITH in January
1916 in Creston. He preceded her in death in 1975.
She lived the last five years in Ellston, previously having made her home in Murray. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. SMITH is survived by a son, Paul SMITH of Des Moines; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister,
Sylvia SMITH of Leon.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Ellston United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jack KENDALL officiating.
Burial was at the Hopeville Cemetery with the Wilson-Watson Funeral Home of Mount Ayr in charge of the arrangements.
Memorials may be directed to the United Methodist Church at Ellston.

Jessie F. (BOOTH) SMITH, daughter of Frank and Emma BOOTH, was born Sept. 18, 1898 on a farm east of Hopeville, Iowa in
Clarke county. Jessie departed from life at Ellston, Iowa on Nov. 11, 1988 at the age of 90 years, one month and 23
She married Aaron C. SMITH in January, 1916 in Creston, iowa.
Jessie raised a family in Hopeville, Iowa,
then after the death of her husband moved to Murray and later to Ellston.
She was preceded in death by her parents,
one sister, three brothes, her husband, Aaron SMITH, and one son, Earl SMITH.
She is survived by one son, Paul J.
SMITH and wife Judy of Des Moines, Iowa; one sisters, Sylvia SMITH of Leon, Iowa; four grandchildren, Rex SMITH of
Des Moines, Shannon BINGEMAN of Des Moines, Gwen SMITH of Des Moines and Rodney SMITH of Las Vegas, Nevada; and three
great-grandchildren, Katherine SMITH and Adam BARMORE of Des Moines and Rodney SMITH, Jr. of Las Vegas.
services were held November 14, 1988 from the United Methodist church at Ellston, Iowa, conducted by Rev. Jack
KENDALL. Music was provided by Mrs. Leo MORGAN and Maurice JONES.
Casketbearers were Gene BULLOCK, Doug BULLOCK,
Kevin CREVELING, Ronald CREVELING, Daughn REASONER and Duane REASONER. Burial was in Hopeville Cemetery at Hopeville,
