OBITUARY ~ CHARLES C. SKINNER

March 18, 1922 ~ June 16, 2007

Charles C. SKINNER, 85, died June 16, 2007 at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines. His body has been cremated and a celebration of his life will be from 3-5 p.m., Saturday, June 23, 2007 at Brooks Funeral Care, 7975 University Blvd. Clive, Iowa. Private inurnment of his cremains will be at a later date.

Charles was born March 18, 1922 in Mt. Ayr, Iowa. He had worked in Mt. Ayr and Ft. Madison, Iowa as a manager for Hy-Vee Foods and then he moved to Des Moines in 1978 and established Skinner's Carpet Cleaning. Charles enjoyed woodworking, gardening and flowers. He loved helping and caring for his family, friends and neighbors.

He is survived by his daughter, Janice CROSS and her husband Roy MESSERSCHMIDT of West Des Moines, Iowa; sons, Dan and his wife, Leslie of Ankeny, Iowa and Jay and his wife, Kim of Middleton, Wisconsin; 9 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a very special friend, Mary McGAUHEY of Des Moines and a host of relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, in 2004, Marian; parents, Glen and Velta and his brothers, Robert, James and Doyle.

Memorial donations may be made to Taylor House Hospice, 3401 E. Douglas Ave., Des Moines, Iowa 50317.

Brooks Funeral Home of Clive, Iowa, was in charge of arrangements.
