OBITUARY - JAMES EUGENE SISSON

COUNCIL GROVE -- Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Memorial Chapel of the Flint Hills Funeral Home in Council Grove [KS] for James Eugene SISSON, 72, Council Grove, who died Friday, March 29, 2003, at a Mount Ayr, Iowa, care center, where he had been since December [2002].

He was born May 12, 1930, near Council Grove, to Josephine HOUDESHELL SISSON and the late Harry Edward SISSON. He spent his early life in Council Grove and graduated from Council Grove High School in 1948. He owned and operated the Mobil service station in Council Grove for more than three years. He later operated the Dairy Queen in Council Grove until 1968. He operated another retail business before he retired.

He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served from June 1951 to March 1953.

His two sisters, Edith GOINS, Diagonal, Iowa, and Dorothy WITTROCK, Wichita, survive.

Military graveside services will be held at Wilsey Cemetery in Wilsey.

Contributions may be made to the Council Grove Alumni Memorial Fund and sent in care of the funeral home.
