OBITUARY - FRANCES MARIE (NOFTSGER) SELLERS
Frances Marie NOFTSGER SELLERS, 81, of 112 N. Devine Road,
Vancouver, Wash., passed away Monday (Feb. 10, 1997) at her home.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. today at Brown's Funeral
Home, Vancouver, Wash.
Funeral services will also be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at
Hogan-Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., Mason City,
Iowa. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery next to her
husband, James Willard "Bill" SELLERS who passed away Jan. 29,
Frances was born March 31, 1915, to Frank and Ida (HENDRICKSON)
NOFTSGER at their home north of Lamoni, Decatur County, Iowa.
Her sister, Annie and Oscar ORFIELD were married that same day.
On Jan. 14, 1935, she married James Willard "Bill" SELLERS,
son of Jay and Gertrude (SUTHERLIN) SELLERS, near Lamoni, Iowa.
To this union were born four children, Robert Willard SELLERS,
Richard Walter SELLERS, Velma Ann Marie MONEK of Vancouver, Wash.,
and Margaret Marie HOLLINGER, of Mason City, Iowa.
They farmed in Decatur County, Iowa, and in 1942, moved to Vancouver,
Wash. and worked in the shipyards. After the war, they returned
to Lamoni and Diagonal, Iowa, farming and boarding several school
In 1955 they returned to Vancouver, Wash., where Frances (friends
called her Myrt in Iowa and Franny in Washington) was a dinner
cook for 30 years in Camas, Wash. She retired in 1986 when she
She was a member of the Camas, Wash., Moose Lodge #1042.
She lived with her daughter Ann Marie in Vancouver, Wash., who
was born late in life and had been close to her father who passed
away when she was quite young.
She helped Ann Marie raise her family, who she enjoyed so much,
cooking family dinners, cultivating the flowers, visiting with
her friends and playing cards.
She never complained about life.
She was very close to her family, she loved people, was very
kind and thoughtful to everyone.
She developed lung cancer five years ago, had two sets of radiation
treatments, did fairly well until two years ago, when she became
very tired and could not do much and this sure did not make
her happy (she had always been a busy person) she went peacefully
and God wanted her.
She wrote her own obituary.
She is survived by all of her children, Robert, Richard, Ann
Marie, and Marie, 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren;
several nieces and nephews, close friends, Edith RODD of Camas,
Wash., Flo HENRY of Dallas, Texas; and her faithful Yorkie dog,
Buddy, who will be buried with her.
She was very close to her sons-in-law, Bob HOLLINGER of Mason
City, Iowa, and Joe MONEK of Vancouver, Wash.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill, in
1969, brother, Henry NOFTSGER; and sister, Annie ORFIELD.
