OBITUARY.

Adaline (HARTLEY) and Franklin M. SEATON

Franklin M. SEATON was born in 1832, Greene County, Pennsylvania, the son of Thomas Prather SEATON and Elizabeth (BROWN) SEATON, and departed this life in 1903, Ringgold County, Iowa. He was a boot and shoemaker.

He married in 1855 to Lydia M. EVANS and four children were born to this union: Anna M., William Taylor, Thomas Parson, and George B. SEATON. Franklin married second to Adaline HARTLEY on March 16, 1867 in Greene County, Pennsylvania. Four children were born to this union, Samuel H., Elizabeth L., Benjamin F., and Hugh K.

They left Greene County, Pennsylvania around 1875 with a large migration from that area, settling in Maloy and Blockton areas in Ringgold and Taylor counties in Iowa.

Interment was at Forrest Home Cemetery.

NOTE: Of Franklin M. and Lydia M. (EVANS) SEATON's children:

William Taylor SEATON was born in Greene County, Pennsylvania on October 22, 1856, and died March 15, 1921, Blockton, Taylor County, Iowa with interment at Blockton Cemetery.

Thomas Parson SEATON was born in Green County, Pennsylvania on September 20, 1859, and died March 22, 1902, Ringgold County, Iowa. Thomas married Elizabeth J. OSBORNE (Sept. 1860-1933). They were interred at Forrest Home Cemetery. Thomas and Elizabeth were the parents of ten children which included Harry, born 1882, Iowa; Earle, born 1884, Iowa; Sylvia, 1886, Iowa; Bessie, born 1887, Iowa: Frank L.; Lila, born 1891, Iowa; Taylor, born 1893, Iowa; Fern, born 1891, Iowa; and Lyndon, born 1895, Iowa. One child died in either infancy or early childhood.
American Flag.jpg Frank L. SEATON, Veteran of World War I, was born March 16, 1889, and died November 20, 1939 with interment at Forrest Home Cemetery, Ringgold County, Iowa.

Of Adaline (HARTLEY) and Franklin M. SEATON's children:

Samuel Hartley was born June 16, 1870, Greene County, Pennsylvania, and died February 19, 1953, Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa with interment at Forrest Home Cemetery beside his wife, Sarah Adelaide "Addie" BENNETT. Addie was the daughter of Edwin BENNETT, who was born October 8, 1871, Ringgold County, Iowa, and died May 17, 1952, Des Moines. They were interred at Forrest Home Cemetery. Samuel and Addie married July 3, 1900 and were the parents of one son, Clay Webster SEATON. Samuel graduated in 1897 from the Des Moines Higland Park College of Pharmacy and ran the drug store in Delphos, Iowa, until 1901 when he sold out to Ben SEATON and took up farming.

Elizabeth Leona SEATON was born September 9, 1872, Greene County, Pennsylvania, and died at the age of 29 on January 5, 1902, Ringgold County with interment at Forrest Home Cemetery, Ringgold County, Iowa.

Benjamin Franklin SEATON was born October 15, 1874, Greene County, Pennsylvania,and died December 7, 1959 with interment at Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa. Benjamin married Fannie Elizabeth STEDMAN on November 28, 1900, and they became the parents of two sons.

Hugh Keenan SEATON was born July 28, 1876, Ringgold County, Iowa, and died November 28, 1964, Delphos, Ringgold County, Iowa with interment at Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Ayr. He married on October 17, 1917 to Nettie Mae OMER and they were the parents of three children.

American Flag.jpg Clay Webster, the son of Samuel Hartley and Sarah Adelaide "Addie" (BENNETT) SEATON was born November 22, 1911 at Redding, Ringgold County, Iowa. Clay married in 1941 to Myrna M. MORSS. Clay was a World War II veteran, serving as a TEC5 in the U.S. Army. He died June 24, 1999 at Austin, Travis County, Texas, with interment at Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa.
