OBITUARY ~ SARAH A. BROWN SCOTT

Sarah A. Brown was born January 14, 1864, in Jackson County. Indiana and departed this life February 27, 1920, age 56 years, 1 month, and 13 days.

She was united in marriage to John W. Scott, February 23, 1890,Monday being their 30th wedding anniversary. To this union were born 4 children; Ralph of Redding, Iowa, Mrs. Frank Tamerius of this vicinity, and Mrs. Fred Soma and Mrs. Guy Swartwood of Clearfield all of whom survive her.

In 1893 she came to Maloy with her husband and son, and has resided in and around this vicinity the remainder of her life.

Her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Brown, 2 brothers, Samuel and Philip, and a sister, Ida preceded her to the better land. Four brothers and three sisters survive her, J. E. and James of Blockton,Fred of Mingo, Iowa; and David of Indianapolis, Indiana; Mrs. Emma Swearinger of Red Oak, Iowa; Mrs. Pearl Tharp of Maloy; and Mrs. Maude Been of Lakeside, Nebraska.

She was conscious until a few hours before her death, her suffering having lasted for the past two years but the end came peaceful and she met death without a murmur. Her friends were numbered by her acquaintances.

She united with the Christian church in early life. Her belief being those who were not prepared to live were not prepared to die. She died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Frank Tamerius after being bedfast six months. Everything that could be done was done but without success. She leaves to mourn her loss, a loving husband, four children and 8 grandchildren.

Funeral preached by Elder F. D. Augustine at the Christian church in Maloy. Interment in Platte River Cemetery.
