Rothmer Albert SCOTT was born on the family farm northwest of Lamoni, Iowa, January 11, 1895, the son of Eva I. & William
"Edward" Alexus SCOTT. He attended a rural school and then Lamoni High School. He took a few Graceland courses
before transferring to the University of Iowa, where he was a champion wrestler.
Rothmer served with the air corps during WWI. Following the war he returned to the University and recieved his master's
degree. He taught school in Kellerton and Macksburg. Rothmer was an educational advisor in the CCC programs located in
Sioux City and New London. During WWII he worked at the ordinance plant near Burlington.
After WWII he purchased the Coffee Shoppe [Lamoni, Iowa] for his son and son-in-law. Rothmer taught math at Lamoni High
School. He was on the muncipal council for 2 years, LCLA council for 2 years, and membership in Rotary Club, Masonic
lodge, American Legion, and city council.
Rothmer married Ruth JOY [(1899-1983)] April 13, 1921 in Rockford, Illinois. He and Ruth had 4 children: Mara Lea,
Edward, John, and Paul SCOTT.
Rothmer died January 8, 1955, Lamoni, Iowa, and was interred at Rose Hill Cemetery,
Lamoni, Decatur County, Iowa.
