OBITUARY - ELMER SCOTT

Elmer SCOTT, the eldest son of John and Fern (SANDER) SCOTT, was born November 25, 1923, on a farm in Worth County, Missouri, and passed away October 8, 1995, at the age of 71 in the Ringgold County Hospital in Mount Ayr, Iowa.

After graduating from the 8th grade, Elmer worked as a "hired hand" for various farmers in Ringgold County, Iowa.

In February, 1946, Elmer married Edna PEARCE. To this union four children were born, Dean, Gary, Donna and Dale. Elmer farmed in Ringgold and Decatur counties and left the farm in the spring of 1977 to move into the town of Grand River. He worked for Hallett Construction Company for four years. Then, he worked for Boles Fertilizer Plant until a heart attack forced him to retire. In retirement, Elmer enjoyed setting up at flea markets and visiting will all the people who stopped. He especially enjoyed the visit of his small grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Edna; his children: Dean and wife Jani of Schaller, Iowa; Gary and wife Pacita of Mount Ayr, Iowa; Donna LEFLER and husband Richard of Louisville, NE; and, Dale of Coleridge, NE: his brothers: Paul of Des Moines; Harold and wife Virginia of Mount Ayr; Max and wife Peggy of Mitchellville; and sister Carolyn ZOLLMAN and husband Charles of Mount Ayr; five grandchildren: Jason and Pat SCOTT of Schaller, Jared and Jessie LEFLER of Louisville, NE, and Johanna SCOTT of Mount Ayr, and one great-grandson, Tyle SCOTT of Schaller, IA; brother-in-law, Jim PEARCE and wife Arlene; sisters-in-law, May LEEPER and husband Wallace, Mary MEAD and husband Dwayne, and Betty SCOTT.

He was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law; two sisters, Marie POUSH and Elizabeth NEWTON; sister-in-law Betty (Mrs. Paul) SCOTT, and a brother-in-law Dolf NEWTON.

Services were held at the Wilson-Watson Funeral Home in Mount Ayr on October 13, 1995. Officiating was Rev. Norman NOBLE. Music was provided by Nancy SACKETT, Darla GREEN, and Melanie KNAPP. Casketbearers included Max BOLES, Stanley (sic, should be Stanton) BECKER, Mark BOLES, Wayne PETERSON, Don ZOLLMAN, and Keith PEARCE.

Interment was in Maple Row Cemetery, Kellerton, Iowa.
