OBITUARY ~ RUBY IRENE (CALDWELL) SCHOONOVER
Ruby Ilene CALDWELL SCHOONOVER, 83, of Raymore, Missouri passed away June 9, 2011. Ruby was born December 21, 1927 in
Mount Ayr, Iowa, the daughter of Bernice and Burr CALDWELL. Ruby was the seventh child out of 10 brothers and sisters.
Ruby became a Christian at the age of 10. She graduated from the eighth grade in Mount Ayr, Iowa and attended high school
through the ninth grade. They moved to Redding, Iowa, where she graduated form high school in 1945.
Ruby moved to Kansas City in 1946 and met Ken SCHOONOVER at Swope Park Baptist Church and became a member in 1947. Ken
and Ruby were married December 31, 1947. They had three children,Douglas Kenneth, Terri Anne and Scott David.
Ruby loved music and was in
the choir at the church. She also sang in the Sweet Adeline's for several years. Ruby went to Longview College and UMKC,
graduated in 1974 and received a degree in art. She was a substitute art teacher at Grandview, Center and Hickman Mills
schools. She also held several jobs in church as a department leader, teacher and secretary. Ruby also sold real estate
for 20 years. She went to school to learn how to teach Kay Arthur Precept Bible study.
In 1992 they moved to Deepwater,
Missouri, which is near Warsaw. Ruby started a Precepts Bible Study in Warsaw and enjoyed teaching the ladies and some
men in that Bible study for seven years, where it is still going on. They became members of the First Baptist Church of
Warsaw where she held several jobs. Ken and Ruby updated and redecorated theprayer room at church.
At their home, they had 20 acres and Ruby liked to use the riding mower and cut tree limbs with her chain saw. Ken and Ruby
moved back to Raymore in 2006 and became members of First Baptist Church in Raymore, where she sang in the choir.
Ruby have been married over 63 years.
Ruby has three granddaughters, Michelle SOLIS, Manon MATHEWS and Jessica NICKLES;
three great-grandchildren, Berik SOLIS, Brandon SOLIS and Tammy NICKLES; many nieces and nephews, and one sister living,
Funeral service was Saturday, June 18, 2011, at First Baptist Church of Raymore. Graveside services were
Monday, June 20, 2011, at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, Missouri.
Memorial contributions maybe
made to the First Baptist Church of Raymore Building Fund.
