OBITUARY - DARLEEN (BENSON) LININGER SCHOFIELD

Darleen LININGER SCHOFIELD, 87, of Alamo, Texas, formerly of Creston and Diagonal, died May 14, 2004, in Napp Memorial Hospital in Weslaco, Texas.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, May 20, at United Church of Diagonal. The Rev. Karen GARRISON will officiate the service. Burial will be in North Fairview Cemetery at Lenox. Open visitation will be after 1 p.m. Wednesday with family visitation 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Wilson-Watson and Armstrong Funeral Home in Diagonal. A memorial has been established in her name.

Mrs. SCHOFIELD, daughter of Arminta (FENNER) and Purl BENSON, was born February 16, 1917, in Lenox. She graduated from Lenox High School in 1933 and attended Simpson College. In 1940, she married Thomas LININGER. In September 1979, she married Gerald "Buck" SCHOFIELD. She taught school in Diagonal and worked at First State Bank in Diagonal.

Survivors include a foster son, Teo (wife Cheri) ZAPATA of Giddings, Texas; a granddaughter, Darleen ZAPATA; a nephew, Linn (wife Mona) Benson of Napa, Calif.; four half brothers and a niece.

She was preceded in death by her husbands.
