One of his lifelong interests was horses. In his younger years he participated in horse pulling contests, in which his teams were winner many times.

In November, 1983, he moved into an apartment at Polk Villa in the town of Mount Ayr, where he enjoyed the caring friendship of the other residents, and the little get-togethers they had.

"Our Dear Foxy"
There was a special person
lived a short time ago
He was the greatest person
that anyone could know.
He always wore a smile,
or at least a little grin,
And always had an answer for
every question put to him.
He always stuck it out,
through thick and thin
As his life lived day by day
Everyone cared so very much.
Then suddenly he'd gone away
He'd gone to find a brighter place,
one so high above
As he looks down and sees his family
He feels our tons of love.
We miss him so very much,He was "a good ole scout."

Funeral services were held October 5, 1989, from the Wilson-Watson Funeral Home at Mount Ayr, Iowa, conducted by Rev. Eydie STEPHENS. Music was provided by Mike GREENE, Mrs. Gary BICKERS and Mrs. Roger TRULLINGER.

Casketbearers were Dan KARL, Syd COMER, Don WOODS, Tony SMITH, Kirk O'RILEY, Rick ANDREWS and Randy ANDREWS. Honorary pallbearers were Tom MOFFITT, Ted MOFFITT, Steve MOFFITT, Dennis GREENE, Rick SCHAFER, Kevin SCHAFER, Duane SCHAFER and Allen SCHAFER.
