OBITUARY - DORIS "JUNE" SAVILLE
Doris June SAVILLE, known as June by family and friends, was born June 7, 1927 and left to be with the Lord at age 82 on
July 7, 2009.
June was born to Fred and Ethel WOOLLUMS in Kellerton, Iowa. Growing up around Kellerton, June could
often be seen riding her beloved pony, Beauty, to and from school.
After graduation from high school, June worked various jobs but found her calling in retail sales. She could sell anything.
Everyone who knew her knew that she loved fashion -- clothing, jewelry, shoes, but especially shoes. It was only natural
for her to combine this love of fashion with her knack for sales resulting in an extended career as manager of Roosevelt
Bootery for many happy years. As such, she would bring home boatloads of shoes she was able to get at deep discounts. She
was, after all, a very thrifty lady!
One of Juneís favorite hobbies was sewing. She could create an outfit simply by looking at a store window display and then
whipping up her version at home without a pattern. She loved to embroider and quilt making gifts for family that are still
cherished today. June was also an avid reader and could read an entire book in one day. Her favorite author was Nora
Roberts and her family is quite sure she read every Nora Roberts book ever written.
June was a very funny person and whenever one was around her, there was laughter. Family and friends loved to tease her
but she could give it right back. She made up her own vocabulary, too, but the family always knew what she was talking
about. For example, if your back hurt, you would visit the choir practor. If you needed to cash a check, you went down to
Bunkers Trust. But the family favorite was taking a trip to Kmark to do a little shopping. June made up her own names for
family members as well. Grandson Pat was dubbed Poohtrick. Granddaughter Karla was always KarlyKay. Daughter Joy was known
as JoyJoy and son-in-law Ben was Benjum -- but only when she was after him for something he had said! June couldnít avoid
earning some nicknames of her own. Her nephew, Arvid, loved to call her Looney Juney. The staff at Carlisle Care Center
affectionately called her June Bug. Granddaughter Melody began calling her Shorty after June commented on how her
11-year-old granddaughter towered over her.
June and husband John met on a bet. Johnís brother, Jerry, bet John he couldnít get June to go out with him on a date.
Needless to say, John won that bet and the rest is history. They celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary in 2007 before
