His early life was spent on a farm near Mt. Ayr, where he received his education. He graduated from Mt. Ayr High School in the year of 1926.

He was united in marriage to Winifred SHOCKLEY on Dec. 11, 1936. To this union was born one son, Jim SANFORD.

He spent many hours of relaxation in his garden which he so tenderly cared for each year.

He was a long time member of the Christian Church in Creston and Clarion.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, James H. and Pearl SANFORD. Death came following a severe heart attack Saturday evening, November 2, 1968 at his home in Clarion.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Winifred, his son, Jim, and daughter-in-law, Karen and a granddaughter, Susan Lynne of Webster City and a brother, Cleve SANFORD of Des Moines, IA, and a host of relatives and friends.

Following the service, the family met at the Christian Church in Creston, where a lunch was served by the ladies of the congregation.
