LYLE ELLIOTT SACKETT
Lyle Elliott SACKETT, the son of Alfred Earl and Florence Modessa "Flossie" (ELLIOTT) SACKETT, was
born in Lotts Creek Township of Ringgold County, Iowa, on March 14, 1920. He served in the U.S. Army during
World War II between April 5, 1944 and November 23, 1945. Eight months of his service was in France, Germany,
and Luxembourg. Lyle was taken prisoner during the Battle of the Bulge and spent four of his eight months of
service as a prisoner in a German Prison Camp. Lyle was discharged at Ft. Leonard Wood in Missouri, earning
battle stars and Combat and Infantry Badges.
Lyle married Ramona Arlene SMITH on June 1, 1940, Albany, Missouri,
and they were the parents of four children.
Lyle died in Omaha, Nebraska, on August 15, 1991, and was interred at Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Ayr, Iowa.
