OBITUARY ~ LEWIS MARION RUSH

(source obituary, Mount Ayr Record-News, March 19, 1998)

Lewis Marion Rush was born on February 17, 1925 in Mount Ayr, Iowa to Clyde and Ava Rush. He departed this life on March 8, 1998 at his home in St. Joseph Missouri at the age of 73.

Lewis graduated from the Mount Ary High School. He married Dorothy Lamb on December 23, 1946. She survives at the home.

Lewis worked for Affiliated Foods for 35 years. He was a member of the Teamsters Union No. 460, American Legion Post No. 359, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1668. He served in the Army during World War II.

Lewis was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Rush and Ava Rush Angeloff.

Additional survivors include his two sons, Dean and Lonnie, both of Savannah, Missouri; three daughters Ava Thompson and Lori Wachtel, both of St. Joseph, and Connie Rush of the home; one brother, Raymond, of St. Charles, Iowa; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one uncle, Dwight Rush of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and three aunts, Esther Miller of St. Joseph, Della Smuck of Rockford, Illinois; and Jessie May of Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Lewis especially enjoyed his children and grandchildren. They were the center of his life. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 10, 1998 at the Prugh-Dunfee Funeral Home in Grant City, Missouri. Rev. Alex Horvath officiated. Interment was in the Middlefork Cemetery in Redding, Iowa.
