OBITUARY ~ ISAAC W. RUSH
June 25, 1872 ~ July 18, 1944

Isaac W Rush, son of Aaron and Nancy Rush, was born in Middle Fork township June 25, 1872. He grew to young manhood, attending the schools and partaking of the social life of this community for over 60 years,.

While still a young man, he was converted and joined the Methodist church at Eureka. Later he took a correspondence course of the Des Moines Annual Conference for a lay preacher, receiving his ordination as a local elder in 1913 when the annual conference met at his home church in Mt. Ayr. He did some lay preaching throughout the neighborhood.

On August 28, 1892 he was united in marriage to Jessie May Johnson of Lotts Creek township. To this union were born 9 children of whom Henry Howard died in early childhood. Mrs. Rush preceded her husband in death May 20, 1934.

In 1938 Mr. Rush moved to Mt. Ayr where he died July 18, 1944 at the age of 72 years and 23 days, death coming after a lingering and painful illness.

He leaves to mourn his passing the 8 children: Mrs. Alta Tillotson of Neva, Mrs. Ona Miller of Mt. Ayr, Percy L, Clyde A, Mrs. Jessie May Range and Mrs. Della Smuck of Rockford IL, Dwight R of Greeley CO, and Lyle E of Beaconsfield.

There are two sisters: Mrs. A E Elliott and Mrs. Narcissa Withers, and a brother Peter all of Mt. Ayr. Also 16 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon from the Methoidst church conducted by the pastor Rev. Frank Moore. Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery.
