OBITUARY ~ OSCAR ROBERTS

Oscar ROBERTS, son of Abraham and Louise ROBERTS, was born on August 25, 1879, near Ellston, Iowa, and passed away December 13, 1958, in his home in Monroe township, one mile east of his birthplace, at the age of 79 years, three months and 18 days. On September 14, 1904, he was united in marriage with Nettie STEPHENS. Of this union were born a son, Lee ROBERTS, of Kellerton, and three daughters, Ella (Mrs. Mark BEEDE) of Swan, Zelma (Mrs. Clair WOOLLUMS) of Mount Ayr, and Lena (Mrs. Paul CLARK), of Kellerton.

He was a kind and loving father, a good neighbor and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter; his parents; and two brothers, Arthur and Luther.

Left to mourn his death are his widow, Nettie; four children; ten grandchildren; a great-grandson; a brother, Asa ROBERTS, of Kellerton; three sisters, Mrs. Effie McBEE, of Mount Ayr, Mrs. Bertha ADAMS, of Lakin, Kan., and Mrs. Lizzie PETERSON, of Osceola; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the Rhoades Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Willis GRANT, of Tingley. Mrs. Darlene MORGAN and Mrs. Edna JONES sang, accompained at the organ by Margaret PENCE. Casketbearers were Donald STEPHENS, Howard STEPHENS, Arthur DEIBERT, George PETERSON, Gerald PETERSON and Weldon RICHARDSON. Interment was in the Oliver Cemetery.
