OBITUARY ~ LEE ROBERTS
Lee Owen ROBERTS, only son of Oscar and Nettie (STEPHENS) ROBERTS, was born on February 8, 1914 south of
Ellston, Iowa, and passed away February 7, 1987 in Denver, Colo., lacking one day of reaching his 73rd birthday.
Lee attended the Zwick school and grew to manhood in the Blackmore area south of Ellston.
On August 1, 1940 he was united
in marriage to Dorothy Helen CLARK and to this union were born two daughters, now Ilene SNYDER and Maxine ARMBRUST of North
Glenn, Colo. He spent most of his early life in Ringgold County, mainly farming until 1959 when the family moved to
Elkhorn, Neb. where he was employed by the Roberts Dairy for about two years. He then became employed by the
Nebraska Highway Comm. and moved to Gretna, Neb., where he bought a property and lived until retirement in about 1978.
His wife, Dorothy, passed away in February  of 1975.
Shortly after his retirement he sold his property; acquired his
pride and joy, a pickup and topper camper which was his "home" wherever parked for as long as he later lived. He spent
some time near Denver and Omaha area doing odd jobs and traveling. He saw lots of the Southeast, Southern and South states
during the sumemr months. The last three winters he spent near Mesa, Arizona, enjoying the climate, making many friends and
acquaintances during his travels. He had gone back last October and became ill while there and had to be returned to
Denver in November, hospitalized, and tests proved he had cancer of the lymph glands. He was told on Thanksgiving Day,
took treatments and seemed to be improving satisfactorily until Feb. 1, when he was returned to the hospital and
was called by death on Feb. 6, 1987.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy, and sons-in-law,
Leo ARMBRUST in December, 1982 and Ronald SNYDER in January, 1985.
He is survived by his two daughters, Ilene SNYDER
and Maxine ARMBRUST of North Glenn, Colo; two granddaughters, Karen PIPER and husband Mike of Broomfield, Colo.,
and Donna SNYDER of North Glenn; one grandson, Randy ROBERTS and wife Ilene of North Glenn; three great-grandchildren,
Mellissa and Christopher PIPER and Randy Lee ROBERTS, Jr.; also three sisters, Ella (Mrs. Mark BEEDE), Indianola, Iowa,
Zelma (Mrs. Clair WOOLLUMS) and Lena (Mrs. Paul CLARK) of Mount Ayr, Iowa; several cousins, friends and acquaintances.
Memorial services were held in North Glenn, Colo. at 10 a.m. on Feb. 9, 1987. The body was taken to Papillon Neb.
to Kahler Dolce Mortuary, who were in charge of graveside services at 10 a.m. Feb. 11 at the Mount Auburn cemetery.
