OBITUARY ~ MINNIE BLANCHE (MINNICK) RICE

Minnie Blanche, daughter of Jesse and Laura Minnick, was born in Ringgold County, Iowa, near Mt Ayr on Nov 15, 1898, and departed this life on April 26, 1963 at Rosary hospital in Corning at the age of 64 years, 5 months and 11 days.

On April 20, 1916, she was united in marriage to Douglas A. Rice. Six children were born to them. They are Mrs. Opal Goodale, Diagonal, Lewis of Lenox; Paul of Corvallis, Ore.; Mrs. Charlotte Cunning, Mt. Ayr; Mrs. Betty Brooks, Mendota, Ill.; and Mrs. Jorene Rankin of North Platte, Neb.

She is survived by all her immediate family which includes her husband, six children, 10 grand children, and two great grandchildren, also one brother, Lee Minnick of Mt. Ayr, and one sister, Mrs. Zelphia Morris of Corvallis, Ore., plus a large family of additional relatives and many friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents, 2 sisters and 5 brothers.

All her life was spent in the vicinities of Elston, Mt. Ayr, Clearfield, Lenox and nearby small towns with the exception of 2 years spent in Brush, Colo. Everyone knew her as a most busy and energetic person throughout all her life with the exception of the last three months.

Her chief interest was her family's welfare, especially the grandchildren. Words cannot express how much she is already being missed. Our only consolation being that her earthly body is released from its not infrequent severe suffering.

Services were conducted from Rhoades Funeral home in Mt Ayr with Rev Howard Wakelin of the Christian church in charge. Casket bearers were Dan and Merritt Minnick, Hyatt Rice, Harold Schroeter, Clinton Rice and Howard Rice. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery at Mt Ayr.
