Luella enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, having coffee with friends, cooking, baking, canning and freezing. She also enjoyed gardening, quilting, playing cards, doing crafts and puzzles.

After Wayne, her husband of 53 years, passed away in 2002, Luella remained on the farm until 2010. She moved to Crown Colony, then Lamoni Nursing and Rehab, and then to the Alzheimers wing at Southern Hills Specialty Care Center in Osceola.
