OBITUARY ~ CLARENCE GUY REYNOLDS

Clarence Guy Reynolds, the son of Henry Chancey and Cornettie Collins Reynolds was born at Farmer City, Illinois May 1, 1893. He died at the Clearview Nursing Home at Clearfield, Iowa on Monday, July 12 at the age of eighty-nine years, two months and twelve days. He had been a resident of the nursing home for eighteen months.

Mr. Reynolds moved with his family to Iowa in 1912. At an early age, he became a member of the Methodist Church, later transferring his membership to the Presbyterian Church.

He was united in marriage with Bessie Hughes on March 7, 1916. Two children, Corine and Merrill, were born to this union. Bessie preceded him in death on June 27, 1942.

On June 20, 1944, Guy was united in marriage with Elma Owens. She also preceded him in death on May 7, 1946.

Mr. Reynolds and Jessie Pinewere married on August 17, 1948.

He was an active member of the Masonic Lodge in his earlier years and would have become a fifty year member on October 2 of this year. He was a member of the Clearfield School Board during the construction of the current school building.

Mr. Reynolds was employed by the Iowa Highway Commission for twenty-five years. His main interest was in farming even though he held other occupations during his lifetime.

Others preceding him in death besides his two wives were his parents, his daughter, Corine, a sister and three brothers.

Survivors include his wife, Jessie of the home; a son Merrill Reynolds and wife, Jean of North Hollywood. California; a brother, Pearl Reynolds of Lenox; a sister, Amelia Jordan of Burbank, California; a half-sister, Mrs. Adelyn Cox of Hornick, Iowa; two grandchildren, Richard Reynolds of Santa Barbara, California and Linda Erb of Boulder, Colorado; three great grandchildren, Karen Reynolds of North Hollywood, California and Larisa and Lacey Erb of Boulder, Colorado;several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Services were held on Wednesday, July 14 at 2 p.m. at the Clearfield Christian Church with Pastor Carl Cummings officiating.

Music was furnished by Mrs. Earl Gaule, organist and Mrs. Harold Nelson and Mrs. Richard Spurrier, vocalists.

Casket bearers were Jack Pine, Bob Reynolds, Joe Stevenson, Vernon Straight, Kenneth Clymer, and George Reynolds.

Interment was in the Clearfield Cemetery at Clearfield.

Wilson-Watson Service was in charge of arrangements.
