Ruth worked for the city of Kansas City for several years and then worked for Armoco Steel of Kansas City for 25 years, until her retirement.

Ruth was a long-time member of the First Christian Church of Kansas City. Her hobbies included knitting, crocheting, reading, ceramics, bowling, and her flower garden. She dearly loved her grandchildren, and one of her greatest joys was to share with them at the family Christmas parties.

Survivors include her husband, Lyle; one son, Clyde (Helen) Belding, Lenox; four grandchildren, Rodney (Joan) Belding, Denise (Dave) Reynolds, Jan (Tom) Reed, Jolene (Dave) Gourley; ten great-grandchildren: Shilo, Brooke and Amanda Belding, Pagie Reynolds, Cory, Cody and Cole Reed, Justin, Mitchell and Beth Gourley; two sisters, Bertha (Melvin) Williams, Lenox; Doris (Harold) Baxter, Omaha, Neb.; one aunt, Ruth Wurster, Lenox, and several nieces and nephews. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents.

A memorial has been established to the United Methodist church of Ellson, Iowa.
