Obituary ~ Miss Mary Preston.

Mary Preston was born July 27, 1830, in Washington county, Penn., and died Feb. 21, 1897 at the home of her brother, B. PRESTON, in this city. She came to this county in 1856 with her father's family, and has ever since been a resident of the county, living near Mt. Ayr with her father until his death in 1872, after which she made her home for ten years at Tingley with her sister, Mrs. C. C. BOSWORTH. Since 1882, she has lived in Mt. Ayr making her home with her brother, B. PRESTON. She joined the Methodist church in early life, and has ever since been identified with it. During the last three years she has been an invalid, and has suffered greatly, but has been uniformly patient and uncomplaining. She was one of the early settlers of the county, and had many warm friends among the older citizens, and also among those who had become acquainted with her in later years.

She leaves to mourn her loss three brothers and two sisters. Three of these, David PRESTON of Liberty township, B. PRESTON of this city, and Mrs. C. C. BOSWORTH of Tingley, are residents of this county. The funeral services were conducted yesterday afternoon at the residnce of B. PRESTON by her pastor, Dr. W. C. MARTIN, after which the remains were interred in Rose Hill cemetery.
