OBITUARY ~ GRANT EISUN PORTER
1890 ~ 1918

Grant Eisun Porter, a prominent young business man of Martinsburg, Iowa, died last Thursday morning at the home of his parents there, of pneumonia following influnenza.

Grant E. Porter was born September 29, 1890, in Ringgold county, near Clearfield, Iowa, and was aged at the time of his death 28 years and 25 days. He came to Iowa in November, 1908 with his parents. He was married to Miss Gladys Messerschmitt on October 15, 1916, and she, together with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James H. Porter and two sisters, Mrs. Ruth McCuen and Miss Inez Porter, survive to mourn his loss.

Grant Porter was a young man of tremendous energy and extraordinary ability. He was associated with his father in the hardware business in Martinsburg and they had made a noteworthy success of the business, extending their trade territory for many miles. He was honorable in his dealing and made friends of all who met him. His death is a calamity to the communtiy, and will be sincerely mourned by an immense number of friends in the communtiy in which he was so well known.
