Obituary.

Wm. Y. PARSONS was born in Grant County, Indiana, May 15, 1834 and died at his home in Holden [Missouri] Nov. 29, 1913. He was married to Martha A. KENT Feb. 28, 1856, to this union were born nine children, two having passed on before in their infancy, leaving seven, four sons and three daughters. In 1860 he moved with his family to Ringgold County, Iowa and in 1876 to Jewell County, Kansas where he lived to old age and poor health caused him to leave the farm and move to Nevada, Mo. Six years ago he moved to Holden where he resided till death. He was a member of the Friends Society by birth and remained in that faith till May 7, 1888 when he became a member of the Re-organized church of Jesus Christ, L.D.S. being baptised (sic) by his son, A. H. PARSONS. He believed in this doctrine firmly, but was a person who said but little believing that actions spoke louder than words. He leaves to mourn their loss his aged companion, for nearly 58 years, and seven children. All the family were present at the funeral except two sons, Henry E. of Winchester, Okla. and John L. of Seattle, Wash. The funeral was from the home Sunday, conducted by Elder HAND. The remains were taken to Independence for burial [Mount Grove Cemetery].

NOTE: William's parents were Soloman and Racheal (HARVEY) PARSONS, both born in North Carolina. Martha Ann (KENT) PARSONS was born in Caldwell County, Missouri on November 14, 1838, and died February 18, 1928, Independence, Missouri. She was interred at Mount Grove Cemetery.
