Clarinda Herald Journal
Clarinda, Iowa

Mrs. Geo. Owen, 76, rites at Trinity

Memorial services for Lois PARKER OWEN, 76, widow of the late George F. OWEN, were conducted this Thursday morning at the Trinity United Presbyterian Church with Dr. J. D. ALMES in charge.

Mrs. OWEN had been in poor health for some time and had been a patient at the Gillespie Nursing Home recently, but her death was quite sudden. She had just finished her supper and was sitting in her rocking chair when her death occurred at 6 p.m. Monday [March 25, 1968].

She was an R.N. and will always be remembered for her outstanding work as a practical nurse. She was a longtime member of the United Presbyterian Church.

She was the daughter of the late Noah Albert and Mary STRANAHAN PARKER, and was born [February of 1892] at Mt. Ayr coming to Clarinda 60 years ago to start working in the office of the late Dr. KILLINGSWORTH. Her home before going to the Nursing Home was at 401 E. Trakio St.

She is survived by two sons, James A. OWEN of Clarinda, and Robert E. OWEN of Bettendorf, a sister, A. Myrtle PARKER, who also resides at Gillespie Nursing Home, five grandchildren and a great-grandson.

Organist at the services was Mrs. Helen HALL HOSKINSON, and the casketbearers were Melvin SRITE, Cecil SMITH, Dale MILLER. J. Will ANDERSON, Charles WINTER and Lyle HARRIS. Funeral arrangements were in charge of the Walker Funeral Home, and burial was at the side of her husband in the Clarinda Cemetery.
