OBITUARY ~ RUTH A. (STINGLEY) NICKLE
August 20, 1915 ~ July 01, 2014

Ruth A. Nickle, daughter of William Franklin and Nona Ermina (Porter) Stingley, was born August 20, 1915 at Woonsocket, Sanborn County, South Dakota. Ruth grew up at Clearfield, Iowa and graduated from Clearfield High School in 1933. Ruth was a teacher at Grant #4, a country school west of Clearfield before she was married. She married Rue R. Nickle on June 4, 1938 at Bedford, Iowa in her parentís home.

They farmed south of Clearfield where Ruth was a loving wife and mother. Ruth was a member of the Clearfield United Methodist Church, the U.M.W. and circle at the church. Ruth belonged to the Friendly Neighborhood Club and served on the Clearfield Public Library board.

Ruth passed away on July 1, 2014 while a resident of Clearview Home in Clearfield. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Rue on November 15, 2010; great-grandson Franklin Ross; and her sisters and their husbands: Helen (Lloyd) Welch and Leota (Tom) Hunt.

Those who will cherish her memory include her two children Leona (George) Barker of Neola, Iowa and Randall (Candias) Nickle of Clearfield, Iowa; four grandchildren Susan (David) Cole of Exline, Iowa, Nancy (Jim) Ross of Underwood, Iowa, Nathan (Stasia) Nickle of Clearfield, Iowa, and Natasha (Mitch) Gourley of Clearfield, Iowa; five great-grandchildren Brynn Nickle, Breya Nickle, Brittlyn Nickle, Tytan Gourley and Brogan Gourley; cousin Leann (Carroll) Baker of Clearfield, Iowa; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A memorial fund has been established to the Clearfield Public Library. Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home of Clearfield and Mount Ayr is in charge of the arrangements.

Services were held Saturday, July 5 at the United Methodist Church in Clearfield with Reverend Shurmaine McAlpine officiating. Casket bearers included Craig Baker, Harold Nelson, Jack Wackernagle, Bob Bailey, George Haidsiak and Keith Brammer. Honorary pallbearers were Harold Bunch, Jim Steele, Bob Falcone, George Heinlein, Terry Welch, Carroll Baker and Dean Nelson.
