OBITUARY - FRANCIS ROUTH, Diagonal

CLEARFIELD - Francis ROUTH, 73, of Diagonal died Thursday night, Sept. 29, 1988, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

Services were 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2 at the Clearfield United Methodist Church. The Rev. Duane FERGUSON officiated with burial in the Diagonal Cemetery. Music was provided by Mrs. Dick LONGFELLOW, organist, and Mrs. Danny KINDER, soloist. The Wilson-Watson Funeral Home in Clearfield had charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to the Ringgold County Group Home.

Pallbearers were Marvin VOTAVA, Ed JOHNSTON, Eldon CARSON, GREG POWELL, Oren JETER, and Jim BENTLEY.

Honorary pallbearers were Vern JOHNSTON, D. K. SHELLEDY, Elmer WOLF, Louis VOTAVA, Raymond TAYLOR, and Robert RHOADES.

Mr. ROUTH was born Oct. 8, 1914, in Lincoln Township near Diagonal to Frank and Carrie (TINDLE) ROUTH. He married Velda CHANDLER April 23, 1949, in Winterset. He was a retired farmer and a lifetime resident of Ringgold County. He was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of Clearfield United Methodist Church, American Legion in Diagonal, and a past member of the Diagonal School board.

Survivors include his wife, Velda of Diagonal; a son, Jim ROUTH of Clearfield; three daughters, Kathy (Mrs. Greg) KOETHER of McGreggor, Julie SHIFLETT of Des Moines, Joan ROUTH of Mount Ayr; five grandchildren; and two brothers, Lee of Diagonal and Marvin ROUTH of Lenox.
