OBITUARY - GLENN D. ROBINSON
Glenn David ROBINSON, son of Thomas J. and Clara A. ROBINSON, was born in Beaconsfield, Ringgold County, Iowa, January
14, 1892, and passed away at the Greater Community Hospital in Creston, Iowa, January 7, 1979.
He was united in marriage
to Mary Ellen WOLFE on March 2, 1915, at which time they established their residence southwest of Mount Ayr. To this union
two daughters were born, Mildred Pearl and Mary Marie.
After spending a number of years farming in the vicinity of Mount
Ayr, where Glenn was member and usher at the United Methodist church, a move was made in the year 1930 to Grant City, Mo.,
where he joined a brother-in-law, Hollis WOLFE, in the oil business. In 1933, Glenn moved to Kellerton, Iowa, and opened
a service station of his own. In the year 1944, a new business and residence was established in Fairfield, Iowa.
preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen, on August 26, 1952, at Fairfield, Iowa. In this community, Glenn was active in
Masons and a member of the Methodist church, also. After the loss of his beloved wife, he returned to Mount Ayr, where
he resided at 502 North Hayes. Here he was active in the Ringgold Saddle Association and held the position of treasurer
for several years.
A coronary attack November 11, 1978, was the cause for fourteen days in the Ringgold County
Hospital. After being released from the hospital, he stayed with his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Lyndel G.
SHIELDS in Creston until his death.
He leaves to mourn his death his siter, Cora ROBINSON of Mount Ayr; two daughters,
Mr. L. G. (Mildred) SHIELDS, Creston, and Mrs. L. A. (Mary) BRONSON, Louisville, Ky.; one son-in-law, Lyndel SHIELDS,
Creston. The other son-in-law, Louis A. BRONSON, preceded him in death last year. Other survivors are nine grandchildren -
Robert SHIELDS, Newburgh, Ind.; William SHIELDS, Sioux Falls, S.D.; James SHIELDS, Carmel, Ind.; John SHIELDS, Keokuk,
Iowa; Tom SHIELDS, Creston, Iowa; Mrs. Jose ZABANECH, Mrs. Leo GADLAGE, L. A. BRONSON, Jr, and David BRONSON, all of
Louisville, Ky., and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10 from Rhoades-Wilson
Funeral Home. Rev. Lynn POTTER officiated. Music was provided by organist Mrs. William HAROVER, and vocalist, William HAROVER.
Casketbearers were John SHIELDS, James SHIELDS, Thomas SHIELDS, Robert SHIELDS, William SHIELDS and Lyndell SHIELDS.
Honorary casketbearers were David BRONSON and Louis BRONSON, Jr. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Mount Ayr.
