OBITUARY - JEWELL LORRAINE (WHITED) RINEHART

Jewell Lorraine RINEHART was born February 7, 1905 in Harrison county, Missouri to William and Ethel (NOBLE) WHITED. Jewell passed away on October 16, 2000 at the Mount Ayr Health Care Center, Mount Ayr, Iowa at the age of 95 years.

Jewell grew up around Allendale, Missouri. On December 24, 1924, she was united in marriage to Clyde E. RINEHART at Grant City, Missouri. She was a homemaker and farm wife. She lived most of her life around Allendale and Mount Ayr. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Jewell will be remembered for many kind and wonderful characteristics. Her uncanny ability to fry chicken, and her fried bread and applesauce cake were treasures that the family will remember. She could make taffy and never fail, which is not the easiest candy to make. The cold winter nights pulling taffy and listening to Jewell tell stories will always be remembered. The stories Jewell told would usually be about her mishaps: falling down, falling off or getting hit by something.

Jewell was preceded in death by her parents; three grandchildren, two in infancy and Diana FARRELL; daughter-in-law Rosemary RINEHART; two sisters, Goldie WELLS and Maxine BRYANT; and one brother Kenneth WHITED.

Left to cherish her memory include her husband Clyde of Mount Ayr; two children, Helen UMBARGER and husband Raymond of Syracuse, Nebraska and Donald RINEHART of Chula Vista, California; two grandchildren, David UMBARGER and wife Linda of Syracuse, Nebraska and Patty STILL and husband Mick of Mount Ayr; six great-grandchildren: Stephanie UMBARGER MARSKZ and husband David of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Julie UMBARGER of Lincoln, Nebraska, Brian UMBARGER of Syracuse, Nebraska, Brent FARRELL of Des Moines, Iowa, Mike STILL and wife Alecia of Mount Ayr and Matt STILL of Mount Ayr; one great-great-granddaughter Teya STILL of Mount Ayr; one brother Donald WHITED and wife Bonnie of Tarkio, Missouri; two sisters, Gladys SALFRANK of Mound City, Missouri and Virginia NUCHOLS of Shenadoah, Iowa; as well as other relatives and friends.

Services were held Friday, October 20, 2000 at Wilson-Watson & Armstrong Funeral Home of Mount Ayr with Alan SMITH officiating. Musicians were Debbie CANNON, Julie UMBARGER and Brian UMBARGER. Casket bearers were Mick STILL, Mike STILL, Matt STILL, Dave UMBARGER, Hollis RINEHART and Bobby RINEHART.

Jewell was laid to rest in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Ayr.
