OBITUARY - GERALDINE RIEF

Geraldine RIEF was born December 14, 1912 at Kellerton, Iowa to Rudolph and Myrtle (STEVENS) FOGLE. She passed away May 6, 1999 at the Clearview Home in Mount Ayr, Iowa at the age of 86 years.

Geraldine graduated from Kellerton high school in 1930. Along with her two children, Bob and Peggy, she moved to Diagonal, Iowa in 1933. She obtained her teachers certificate and taught country school for nine years at Knowlton, Iowa. She also worked at Bob Holland's Cafe part time.

On April 10, 1943, she was united in marriage to Freeman RIEF at Bethany, MO and her home and family were the highlights of her life. She assisted him in operating the plumbing business, the Laundromat and was involved in farming right up to the time of her death.

Family dinners were important and everyone was welcome. Her chocolate cake and homemade dinner rolls were requested favorites. She was an avid fan of college basketball and never missed watching or listening to a Hawkeye game. Her children and grandchildren were the joy of her life. Her advice to them was to overlook flaws in others and to never hold a grudge.

Geraldine was active in her church, the school and community events. She was a longtime member of the Priscilla Club and had a special interest in the American Legion Auxiliary.
