OBITUARY - JOHN "EARNEST" RICHARDS

John Earnest RICHARDS, son of Amy and Charles RICHARDS, was born January 7, 1899 in Ringgold County, Iowa, and departed this life November 6, 1980, in the Ringgold County hospital at the age of 81 years, nine months and 30 days.

He spent all of his life in Ringgold County.

On June 3, 1922, he was united in marriage with Elizabeth MOORE of Mount Ayr and of this union were born 10 children.

He was a member of the Wishard Chapel Church, later moving his membership to the Mount Ayr United Methodist Church. He was a kind and loving husband and father.

Those who preceded him in death were his parents; a daughter, Mrs. Bonnie PRATT; two brothers, Earl and Eldon RICHARDS, and a sister, Blanche MOORE.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Elizabeth RICHARDS; four sons - Robert and Charles of Mount Ayr, Allen of Kellerton and Bill of Oregon; five daughters - Marian SKINNER of Des Moines, Jan HUTT and Sue SICKELS of Indianola, Anne SICKELS of Afton and Connie JACOBSON of North Carolina; four daughters-in-law; five sons-in-law; 17 grand children and 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Grace GROUT of Tingley; a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral services were conducted by Pastor Milt HENDERSON at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 8., 1980 from Rhoades-Wilson Funeral Home in Mount Ayr. Music was organist Mike GREENE and vocalists Mrs. Robert FISHER and Joni FISHER.

Casketbearers were Dean HUTT, Jay SKINNER, Eric SICKELS, David RICHARDS, Kelly RICHARDS, and Michael SICKELS. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery at Mount Ayr.
