OBITUARY ~ JENNIE PEARL (BENTLEY) REYNOLDS

Jennie Pearl Bentley was born to John Mitchell and Mary Vashti Bentley in Ringgold County April 6, 1885 and passed away at the Thomas Nursing Home at Lenox June 4, 1954; age 89 years, 1 month and 28 days.

The last two months of her life were spent at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ruth McLaury in Lenox, Iowa.

She was united in marriage to Charles Francis Reynolds March 6, 1908 at her home in Diagonal, Iowa. Three children blessed their home: Ruth Marie McLaury of Lenox; Charles Francis Reynolds who was reported missing in action over Yap Island in the Pacific July 15, 1944 and was officially declared dead two years later, Robert Ray Reynolds who died at the age of 4 Nov 19, 1923.

She leaves to mourn her departure her husband Charles Francis Reynolds who is in the Armstrong Nursing Home at Bedford, Ia.; her daughter Ruth McLaury; four granddaughters and six great grandchildren; also four brothers, Charles E. Bentley of Grand Rapids, Min.; Ray Bentley of Nampa, Idaho; Harry Bentley of Diagonal, John Bentley of Hawthorne, Calif.; also, three sisters, Mrs. Ernie Williamson of Nampa, Ida.; Mrs. Fred Williamson of Benson, Minn.; Mrs. Gladys Wimer of St Paul, Minn. One sister Viola Whited of Des Moines preceded her in death.

Mrs. Reynolds spent most of her life on farms around Diagonal and she and her husband moved to a farm near Clearfield, Ia., in 1921 and moved into their home town about 15 years ago.

Mrs. Reynolds joined the Methodist church on confession of faith in 1927 during the pastorate of Rev. McCartney. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a Gold Star mother.

She was a very patient soul, and had very poor health for a number of years. Her life centered about her family and children and grandchildren. She was always a hard worker and found diversion in her flowers of which she was very fond. She was a good neighbor and a friend of all who knew her.

Funeral services were held June 6 at the Methodist church in Clearfield with Rev. C. E. McPherson officiating. Burial in Clearfield Cemetery.
