OBITUARY - ALBERTA REYNOLDS
Alberta [Delma (SMITH)] REYNOLDS was born as the bells were ringing, just after midnight, on January 1, 1911, at Champaign, Illinois. She
was raised by John and Elizabeth BLAUER at Tingley, Iowa. She would later graduate from Tingley high school. Alberta
married Manson REYNOLDS and to this union eight children were born.
In the early 1940's Alberta lived in Seattle, Washington were she worked at the shipyards. She later returned to Tingley
where she raised her family. In 1971, she moved to Mount Ayr, Iowa and worked at Clearview Home. To be near her family,
she lived in West Burlington, Iowa and later moved to Phoenix, Arizona in the early 1980's, with the past few years being
in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Her children and grandchildren were very important to Alberta. Her main concern was their well being and she established
a strong Christian faith for the family to live by. She belonged to the Methodist Church wherever she lived, teaching
Sunday school for many years in Tingley. Her Bible was an inspiration that she started and ended each day with.
Alberta enjoyed reading not only the Bible but books as well and a puzzle was always in progress in her home. Alberta had
a sense of humor, making the people around her laugh. She loved her dogs and they were jokingly referred to as her
Alberta passed away on January 3, 2001, just after her 90th birthday, at the Nathan Adelson Hospice in Las Vegas, Nevada.
She was preceded in death by her foster parents; her husband Manson; two sons, Dale and Dickie; a grandson Danny Keith
REYNOLDS and a great-granddaughter Shawna JENSEN; her foster brother John Harold BLAUER and her foster sister Grace
Left to mourn her passing are her children, Doyle and his wife Elnora of Burlington, Iowa, Dean and his wife Penny of
Poulsbo, Washington, Darrell of Katy, Texas, Danny of Mount Ayr, Marcene ALLAWAY and her husband Dave of Las Vegas,
Nevada and Darlene KELLY and her husband Vernon, Sr. of Afton, Iowa; 18 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, 9
great-great-grandchildren; a foster brother Darold BLAUER and his wife Rosemary of Des Moines.
Funeral services were held Sunday, January 7, 2001, at Wilson-Watson & Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr with Reverend
Diana HOLLAND officiating. Musicians were Nancy SACKETT, Mary TRULLINGER and Margaret BICKERS. Songs were "His Eye Is On
The Sparrow," and "When They Ring Those Golden Bells." Casket bearers were Ryan JENSEN, Vernon KELLY, Jr., Wayne
CREVELING, Lonnie REYNOLDS, R. J. BRINKMEYER, Justin ANDERSON and Chad CHRISTENSEN.
Alberta was laid to rest in the Tingley Cemetery, Tingley.
