The Mount Ayr Record-News, 1933

OBITUARY - Wm. L. POWELL.

Wm. L. POWELL, son of Wm. and Pamelia Jane POWELL, was born November 29, 1860, near Willow Springs, Kentucky, and passed away at his home in Mount Ayr March 4, 1933, aged 72 years, three months and four days.

When a small child his parents moved near Centerville, Iowa, where he grew to manhood. On December 24, 1884, he married Mary L. Cooley. The next spring they moved to a farm in Poe township. They resided in Poe township until three years ago, when they moved to Mount Ayr.

He leaves to mourn his passing one daughter, Mrs. Ora HARSH; five grandchildren, Ivan, Glee, Mary, Vern and Victor HARSH; three brothers, Jesse of Beloit, Kan., John of Moulton, Iowa, and Grant of Winthrop, Ark., and other relatives and friends.

Those from a distance attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Clarence POWELL of Moulton, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. Ora POWELL of Udell, and Pearl MORRIS of Centerville.

Funeral services were held from the Rhoades Funeral Home March 7, 1933, at 2 p.m., conducted by T. S. RHOADES. Burial was made at Oakland (a.k.a. Saltzman Cemetery).

We wish to take this opportunity of expressing our sincere thanks to the friends and neighbors who so ably assisted us during the death and funeral of our father and grandfather. - Mrs. and Mrs. Ora HARSH and family.

NOTE: The infant son of Ora and Martha (POWELL) HARSH and grandson of William L. and Mary L. (COOLY) POWELL, died in 1922 with interment at Oakland (a.k.a. Saltzman) Cemetery.
