OBITUARY - MRS. W. L. POWELL.

Mary L. POWELL was the eldest daughter of Thomas and Martha Ann COOLY (sic, should be COOLEY). She was born near Udell, Iowa, October 27, 1852, and passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ora HARSH, April 10, 1932.

She was married to Wm. L. POWELL December 24, 1884, and the next spring they moved to a farm in Poe township, where they resided until about two years ago when she and her husband moved to Mount Ayr. She suffered a partial stroke about three years ago last September and has been an invalid ever since. Last January she fell from her chair, breaking her limb from which she never recovered. She was taken to her daughter's home where she might be cared for.

She leaves to mourn her going her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Ora HARSH, and five grandchildren, Ivan, Glee, Mary, Vern and Victor HARSH; also one half brother, Thomas ATKINSON, of Udell, Iowa, and numerous relatives and friends.

She was a member of the M. E. church near Udell, Iowa.

Funeral services for Mrs. Powell were held at the Rhoades Funeral Home in Mount Ayr Tuesday afternoon at 2:30, conducted by T. S. RHOADES, and burial was in Oak Ridge (a.k.a. Saltzman) Cemetery.

Relatives from a distance attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Clarence POWELL, Moulton, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Ora POWELL and Mrs. Minnie REPLAGU, Udell, Iowa.

For the kindness of neighbors and friends, expressed in helpful acts and sympathy generously bestowed during the illness and at the death of our wife and mother, we are profoundly grateful. -- W. L. POWELL, Mrs. Ora HARSH.

NOTE: The infant son of Ora and Martha (POWELL) HARSH and grandson of William L. and Mary L. (COOLEY) POWELL, died in 1922 with interment at Oakland (a.k.a. Saltzman) Cemetery.
