MRS. ANNA POOR DIES IN NEBRASKA

Mrs. Anna POOR of the Blockton community died in Lincoln, Nebr., May 28. Funeral services were held at the Blockton Methodist church, Thursday afternoon, June 1, with Rev. S. E. STERRETT officiating. Burial [was] in Rose Hill cemetery at Blockton.

Anna Jane THURMAN, daughter of Marion and Mary Thurman was born near Redding, Iowa, October 3, 1877, and died at the age of 83 years, six months, 29 days.

She grew to womanhood near Redding, where early in life she joined the Christian church. In 1903 on July first she was united in marriage to Bennie B. POOR and to this union were born nine children, five daughters and four sons. One daughter passed away in infancy; a son, Ralph, at the age of 19 months; her husband on September 1, 1936; and another son, Harry of Anaheim, Calif., on July 11, 1960.

Surviving children are: Guy POOR of Blockton, Esther HENTHORN of Lincoln, Ethel MARTIN of Indio, Calif., Goldie POOR of Phoenix, Ariz., Mabel WILKINSON of Topeka, Kans., Wayne POOR of Montebello, Calif. She also is survived by two sisters and five brothers: Jim THURMAN of Hatfield, Mo., Albert THURMAN of Bolckow, Mo., Dave THURMAN of Leon, Frank and Jesse THURMAN of Arroyo Grande, Calif., Nancy KING of Nampa, Idaho, Rosa HILLHOUSE of Colorado Springs, Colo. She also leaves 17 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren.

Most of her life was spent in the Blockton area, but she had lived the past 12 years with her daughter, Goldie, in Phoenix, Arizona. She had been in poor health the past two years.
